or the past five years, Donnie H. Smith has had the privilege and honor to serve as Governor Perdue’s Agriculture Liaison and oversees the Governor’s Agriculture Advisory Commission. He is a fifth generation farmer and the owner of Smith Farms located in Coffee and Atkinson Counties.
Agriculture is in his blood and he strives to make Georgia and our communities the best place to live, work and raise a family. He promotes environmentally friendly practices on his farm and lives by the motto: “Take care of the land, and it will take care of you.”
Donnie is a past Georgia Lancaster Sunbelt Expo Farmer of the Year as well as a past Georgia Flue Cured Tobacco Farmer of the Year. He serves on Senator Saxby Chambliss Ag Advisory Commission, Georgia’s Statewide Water Management Planning Advisory Committee, The Georgia Rural Development Council, and many local, state and national agriculture organizations. He also serves as a deacon in his church.
Donnie and his wife, Marilyn, have two children and two grandchildren
